Major Impacts Of Thangam Thenarasu

  • Introduction of Samacheer Kalvi (2006–2011)

As School Education Minister, implemented Samacheer Kalvi—a Uniform System of School Education—standardizing curricula across Tamil Nadu. This reform improved pass rates by 15%, reduced educational disparities, and became a national model for inclusive education, benefiting millions of students.

  • ₹30 Lakh Crore Investments as Industries Minister (2021–2023)

As Industries Minister, led the Global Investors’ Meet (GIM), attracting ₹30 lakh crore in commitments. Startups grew from 2,105 to 10,649, and MSMEs doubled from 14.17 lakh to 32.10 lakh. This transformed Tamil Nadu into a global industrial hub, creating millions of jobs in Tier 2 and 3 cities.

  • Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme (2023–Present)

As Finance Minister, introduced the KMUT scheme, offering ₹1,000 monthly assistance to 1.15 crore women. Enabled by the Tamil Nadu Public Fund Tracking System, the scheme became a national example of transparent governance and women’s economic empowerment.

  • Fiscal Discipline & Inclusive Growth (2024–2025)

Presented the 2024–25 and 2025–26 Budgets, allocating ₹27,922 crore for poverty alleviation (targeting five lakh families) and ₹3,500 crore for Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam (eight lakh houses). Reduced the revenue deficit from ₹68,000 crore to ₹41,000 crore, achieving fiscal stability while driving inclusive development.
